Last week, we talked about logic flaws in screenplays. Here’s another example of a logic flaw we see in client scripts all the time.
Can you spot the problem?
Unless Priyanka’s bedroom is the size of a football stadium, there’s no way they could have that much conversation in the time it takes for Priyanaka to throw the jacket and Haley to catch it.
For the scene to be realistic, it should look like this…
Because we told you there was a logic flaw coming, your antennae were up and you may have found the error instantly. Perhaps you thought, "That was so easy to see. There's no way I'd ever make a mistake this obvious."
Trust us, we make boneheaded errors all the time, and so can you. It's worrisome how easily logic flaws get buried in story, so keep your eyes well peeled.
